What makes a pediatric epileptologist at McLane Children’s special?
At McLane Children’s, we treat all forms of pediatric epilepsy.
We can recommend the ketogenic diet, a specialized therapy for epileptics resistant to standard epilepsy medications. We also offer, in conjunction with
pediatric neurosurgery, an implantation of the Vagal Nerve Stimulator, a device to assist in control of medically refractory epilepsy.
We are involved with other members of the Scott & White Epilepsy Center and Department of Pediatrics in research involving
new medical therapies for neonatal and childhood seizures.
Our pediatric epileptology team is committed to providing the best care to your child, often following epilepsy until adulthood. We work in collaboration with other pediatric specialists to develop the best diagnostic and treatment plan for your child.
How can I get my child in to see a pediatric epileptologist?
If your child’s primary care physician or pediatrician believes your child may need to see a pediatric epileptologist, please call 877-724-KIDS (5437) to set up an appointment.
If your child is a
Scott & White Health Plan patient, you will be referred to a pediatric epileptologist if your child’s physician believes a visit is necessary.
Some health plans may require a referral prior to seeing a pediatric epileptologist. Please contact your insurance company to learn about your child’s coverage.
