What makes the Child Development Department at Scott & White special?

The child development specialists at the Children’s Hospital at Scott & White work together as a team with other specialists to develop an appropriate intervention plan that will benefit many aspects of your child’s growth and development—including physical, emotional, and intellectual growth.

Our department is committed to community outreach as well. Our Scott & White child development specialists regularly participate in community educational seminars designed for parents, teachers, counselors, nurses, primary care physicians, and other related education and healthcare professionals. We also participate in local parent support groups and community activities for children with special needs.

How can I get my child in to see a child development specialist?

If you believe your child may benefit from seeing a child development specialist, call 877.724.KIDS (5437) to set up an appointment.

If your child is a Scott & White Health Plan patient, you will be referred to a child development specialist if your pediatrician suspects something might be wrong.

Some health plans may require a referral prior to seeing a child development specialist. You should contact your insurance company to learn about your child’s coverage.
